Services

We will be happy to explain any of our services and answer all your questions before, during and after your visit.

Select any of the procedures we offer for a longer description of our services.

> Exams and Cleaning:

Our dental hygienist will clean your teeth, then the doctor will perform your oral exam.  At this appointment we will:
  • Scale and polish your teeth
  • Perform an oral cancer screening
  • Examine your gums for periodontal pocketing
  • Check for decay
  • Take digital x-rays to look for cavities and bone loss
  • Check your fillings for cracks and leaking margins
  • Look for loose or drifting teeth
  • Examine your bite

> Children's Exams:

Your child should be between 3 and 4 years old at their first dental appointment.  Plan to schedule your child's dental appointment several months before you want to come.

Our office wants your child's first dental visit to be a positive experience.  We give your child a ride up and down in the dental chair, and provide sunglasses for bright light.  At the end of the visit, your child can choose stickers and a prize from our treasure chest.

> Composite Restorations:

We use a composite (tooth-colored) filling instead of an amalgam (silver) filling.  This allows us to closely match your tooth's natural shade.

> Crown:

Also known as a cap, this restoration fits over the entire tooth.  This is designed to protect the tooth from breaking.  A crown is generally necessary when a tooth is broken or has had a root canal.  It is also used to replace a very large filling that is no longer serviceable.

> Bridge:

A bridge is used to replace a missing tooth.  It is a permanent replacement that is cemented into place, and consists of a crown on the teeth on either side of the missing tooth and a third crown connected in the middle to replace the missing tooth.

> Denture:

A denture is made when a patient is missing all of the teeth in a full arch.  This is often referred to as a plate.  A denture can be used on the upper arch, the lower arch, or both.  Some dentures can be supported in place using implants.

> Partial Dentures:

A partial denture replaces missing teeth by anchoring one or more false teeth to remaining teeth in the arch.  The base is usually metal with synthetic teeth added to replace missing teeth.  This is a removable appliance that is taken out of the mouth to clean.

> Root Plane and Curettage:

This is a therapy for patients who have problems in their gums.  If there is tartar build up under the gums, this can cause problems for the support of the teeth.  The tartar build up causes the gums to swell and bleed easily.  This swelling can cause the bone surrounding the teeth to retreat, resulting in loose teeth.  When our dental hygienists root plane, they are removing the tartar build up which should eliminate the swelling.

> Sealants:

Sealants are used as protection against cavity development, and are placed on healthy teeth into the pits and fissures.  The bond of the sealant prevents debris build up, which can develop into cavities.

> Veneers:

Veneers are almost exclusively cosmetic.  A veneer is a thin layer of porcelain that is bonded to the front of visible teeth.  They are used to whiten a patient's smile as well as improve on the shapes of teeth.  Veneers can also be used to eliminate gaps between teeth.

> Implants:

Implants are metal posts that are placed in spots where teeth are missing.  The implant itself is placed by a specialist with whom our office coordinates care.  A single implant can be placed to replace a missing tooth.  Several implants can be placed to support a denture plate.

> Whitening:

Our office offers several options for patients who desire a whiter smile.

  •  We can fabricate special custom fitted trays, which are used with bleaching gel by the patient.  Our patients are then able to wear the trays with the gel in place at home.
  • The Zoom! chairside whitening system makes getting a brighter, whiter smile faster and easier than ever before.  Zoom!'s innovative teeth whitening system is a safe and effective way for patients to whiten their teeth an average of 8 shades in about an hour. Our dental team will carefully isolate your teeth and apply Zoom!'s whitening gel, followed by the patented Zoom! light used to activate the gel.

> DIAGNOdent:

DIAGNOdent is a laser tool that we use to help diagnose cavities.  The DIAGNOdent is shined directly onto the teeth.  The laser light measures the reflection and determines whether or not a cavity is present.

> Digital X-Rays:

Our office has implemented digital x-rays as a benefit to patient care.  The quality of the x-ray is greatly improved so diagnosis is improved as well.  Most importantly, the amount of x-ray exposure is greatly reduced from traditional x-rays.
